The Story

A la mode is the style of the present. Rooted in the moment, it reflects the evolution of design at the present moment in time.

It’s mantra is less is more: strong lines, smooth profiles instead of ornamentation, solid or subtly patterned fabrics instead of colourful prints and minimal accessories.

Ever changing with the times it is flexible and fashionable. It reflects what is currently popular and in vogue.

Comfort and sustainability are its key values.

While it doesn’t have the overt warmth of older design styles it won’t cast a chill either. Designed with open space and natural light in mind, it feels airy and expansive. Because there isn’t any clutter, every piece has to count.

Why it works: A strong emphasis on line and form, two essentials of good design, give this style its energy.

A la mode is for you if… At art exhibitions you gravitate to the abstract works. You love simplicity. Heavy curtains make you claustrophobic. You like to move with the times.
